411mania - The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing Preview

411mania - How we, as a society, have failed to make the quintessential Van Helsing game is beyond me. Yes, there was that tie-in to the abhorrent Hugh Jackman film of the same name (which was actually a pretty solid Devil May Cry knock-off, if you ask me). And I guess you might count appearances in Dracula-based or inspired titles, but as the de facto vampire hunter, you'd think someone would've given the guy his due props. (On that note, we totally need a werewolf game, like X-Men Origins Uncaged but instead you're a werewolf. But I digress.)

| Capcom Game Sales Disappoint, Blames Digital Market And Outsourcing
Added: 18.04.2013 18:25 | 13 views | 0 comments
Capcom has hit a rough spell, and the first thing to do when you screw up is blame something else.
In its latest note to investors, Capcom has lowered sales forecasts for two of its high-budget games. Resident Evil 6 has been dropped from 6 to 4.9 million, while DmC: Devil May Cry has gone down substantially from 2 to 1.15 million. In total, its latest two games have over 2 million sales less than anticipated and far lower Metacritic scores than their predecessors.

Publisher will spend 7.2 billion Yen on restructuring as it slashes expectations for Resident Evil 6 and Devil May Cry.
Capcom has announced it is revising sales forecasts downwards for its current crop of big-name titles, attributing part of the failure on "excessive outsourcing."
The publisher now expects to shift 4.9 million copies, down from five million. Capcom's original sales estimation for Resident Evil 6 was seven million copies.
Ninja Theory's reboot of is now expected to sell 1.15 million copies, also down from its original forecast of two million.
Capcom also highlighted a "delayed response to the expanding digital contents market" and "insufficient coordination between the marketing and game development divisions in overseas markets" as reasons for its disappointing sales.
The publisher now plans to more heavily promote its DLC strategies and focus more on internal development.
As a result, the Japanese publisher has warned of a "special loss" in its business as part of a 7.2 billion Yen (£48 million/$73 million) restructuring. Capcom warns that, because of this process, it has "strictly re-evaluated" some currently unannounced games in production.
The results of poor sales and restructuring is that the company has slashed its expected net income for the financial year ended March 31, 2013 by over half: 2.9 million Yen, down from 6.5 million Yen.

Oliver at El33tonline writes:
"Despite knowing about the game since gamescom 2012, Remember Me from Capcom and developer Dontnod is a wonderful surprise. With character and environment detail to match Devil May Cry and Uncharted, and a fistful of interesting innovations in videogame story-telling, exploration and combat, Im confident that the surprise of discovering Remember Me wont be limited to me when its out in June this is a game that well all be excitedly discussing later this year, and for a lot of very good reasons."
